Results of VFW Annual Summer Picnic and Cornhole Bash

The "Money Bag" was huge throughout the day as expected! Mike Alvey and Tony Hankins played constitently the best cornhole throughout the tournament and defeated Chad Newman and Chris Benningfield in match play by winning 2 games to 1. Chad Newman was hot most of the day with the "money bag" and connected at a 72.5% clip with the "money bag" throughout the tourney. Michael Ross and Troy Taylor came in third and put on a tremendous show in their final game against Benningfield and Newman. Both Ross and Taylor made some huge "money bag" shots to stay close. Coming in fourth was Chuck McDonald and Shawn Padgett. Overall, the "money bag" was a lot of fun and added a lot of excitement to the games. The fourth bag is already a bag that has a lot of decisions to it and then you add double the points to it and it makes it even harder to decide what to do in that situation. ACO Louisville will probably do one or two "Money Bags" tournaments a year. --A Big Thank You goes to all the players that participated in the tournament and to the VFW for giving us a great place to play!

August 8, 2009 - SINGLES ft. the "Money Bag"

Both Mike Rice and Derek Williams gets hot at the right time with Rice coming pulling it out in the finals

It was extremely hot outside all day and two players took advantage of the hot weather and heated up themselves. Mike Rice and Derek Williams took out the rest of the competition and met each other in the finals of the Singles division ft. the "Money Bag". In the finals, Rice took down Williams in a very competitive match. Both players were connecting with the "Money Bag" which made for exciting finals. Rice was consistent throughout this tournament and very rarely gave his opponent any room to make a move on him. Williams found the "Money Bag" in the semi-finals and became extremely tough to beat. Coming in third place was the always tough Tony Hankins. As the day went on the boards got a little "sticky" which didn't help Tony out in this one. In an upset in an earlier round was Dave, 1/2 of the "Living Legends" Rogers defeating Mike Alvey. Dave went on to finish in fourth place and was defeated by Derek Williams. Dave had a big lead in this one but couldn't seal the deal against Williams.

This was a great tournament with several players finding the "Money Bag" and getting "hot" at the right time to make some good runs.
