Matt Guy and Tony Hankins win the Competitive Doubles Title at TurkeyHole Classic
Matt Guy
Alexandria, KY
Matt Guy and Tony Hankins took the TurkeyHole title in the competitive doubles division. Matt and Tony stumbled out of the starting blocks, when they went against Bobby Brooks and Bret Guy in the first round. They won, but had by far the longest first round match of the tournament. After the first round, Matt and Tony took care of the competition by defeating Doug Darnell & Steve Richor, Stuart Baird & Jerry Kanapple, and Dale Smith & Paul Gunter in the finals.
Dale Smith and Paul Gunter finished second with a very good showing. Dale and Paul continue to show that they are one of the better doubles teams around the area. They had to beat a very tough team in the final four, Noel True and Albert Hazlett to get to the finals.
Stuart Baird and Jerry Kanapple along with Noel True and Albert Hazlett finished in the top four.
Overall, the competitive division lived up to its name. Every team was very good and had a legitimate shot at winning the title. Thanks to all the teams for coming out.
